Iggy Starpup feature!

I had to share my friend Courtney Doom's work with you on my little corner of the Internet. Courtney is a talented artist, this gal can seriously draw but one of the wonderful craft creations I wanted to share with you is the work she creates with embroidery hoops.  Iggy Starpup is the brand of Courtney Doom age 29, who resides in the deserts of Phoenix, AZ. Many moons ago Iggy Starpup,the magical pug, was sent on a mission to bestow cute crafts and illustrations upon the people of Earth. Iggy has travelled far and wide across the galaxy and in her travels she has learned much about cuteness, love, and the power of tail wags. She uses this knowledge to enrich the lives of the human race and as an extra special treat she sprinkles a bit of moondust onto all of her creations. Chep Art feature!

I had to share Chep art with you. Colourful, sweet and cute! Here's a lovely little bio about Chep Art!
Chep is a self-taught artist from Sheffield specialising in a cute, bold style. She recently graduated from university in London where she gained a First in English Literature, majoring in Philosophy. During university she balanced her art with her studies and managed to fit in a couple of exhibitions in London. She still hopes to pursue her love of Philosophy and writing, and is currently in the early stages of writing an academic article. But is now able to focus predominantly upon art. Her art is designed to make you smile and "make your walls happy". She works mainly with acrylics & more recently, exploring techniques with spray paints. Her usual materials are canvas or wood, but has started to make ornaments and will soon be producing prints of her pieces and expanding her product range. She regularly completes commissioned pieces for customers and has some new projects in the pipeline. An on-going project for the near future is to begin a children's book. This is very much in the preliminary stages, but hopefully from early next year, will become something she can dedicate some time to. Chep hopes that people will enjoy her characters and art, and perceive the fun she portrays within it.

Hi there!

Cookie cutters!

Anyone that knows me or reads this blog will know I do love to bake!  Cookies my most favourite (cupcakes being a joint fave) to bake.  The fun you can have with different cookie cutter shapes, the icing, the flavours, sky's the limit!
Cookie baking is something great for the kids too. I remember many a happy time with my late Nana when I was a child. We baked away together making all sorts, the sound of the kenwood mixer and the wonderful oven smells....good times.

Hobbycraft sells some great cookie cutters....I have been eyeballing them all today. Here are my two faves!

Twinkie Chan's Crochet goodies for fashion foodies book!

I am a lucky girl!  I got to review and play with Twinkie Chan's fantastic crochet book!
What a fantastic book.  Lots of bright beautiful photos, fun modern designs. Some of you may remember when I used to make Polymer clay jewellery? Well, Twinkie Chan is wearing one of my Jam biscuit necklaces on the cover! I have been online buds with the lovely lady for about 8 years or more. I remember Steph from live journal days and I am so thrilled for her that she has been a huge success doing what she loves and what she is VERY good at. YAY! This fab book is all crochet patterns ranging from cupcake and Popsicle scarves to cake tissue cosies and fingerless mittens!!   Inside you'll find three sections...sweet things, fruits and veggies and savory stuff, hehe!!!!!   You will also find a "how to" which gives you help on the basics of crochet. I love the size of the book, I would say it is around 6 by 8 inches, it fits into a bag nicely so you can take your work out and about with you! The book itself is great eyecandy...colourful, cute, pretty and that's just Twinkie chan, hehe! The designs are so sweet and will guarantee to inspire you to make something. If you're into crochet or have a friend/relative that is, do buy this book.

Here I have started to practice one of the cookies in just a plain cheap acrylic yarn I already have, which I like to do, until I have a pattern down.

Crafty Vintage fair

I went to this fabulous craft fair at the beautiful Brockholes nature reserve this weekend. What a day it was!

I had to pinch a few photos from my friend Ruthie as my camera died. This Cravan is called Polly and the lovely lady we met that owns Polly, called Nicki, hires Polly out for photoshoots, tea parties and all sorts of awesomeness! the prices are very reasonable too! I just realised I haven't added one single Christmas related post as yet on my blog! So here is a snap of my living room tree that I took when we put it up this year, full of deers, cupcakes and candy! I have been so very busy making goodies and have loads of photos to take of my makes. The Christmas gifts are pilling up under the tree and it is approaching so fast this year. Shopping with hubby tomorrow for prezzies for eachother :)

I made the dogs the cutest bad ass kerchiefs! Sadly terrible photo as it could not be more dark and rainy today.

I just started a photo challenge for November and this was my first photo for Something beginning with the letter "c".. So here is Cuba, one of my fur babies!

 

I have begun making Christmas gifts. There are a ton of fab ideas and tutorials online at the moment. I cannot wait to see people's faces when I give the gifts.
I LOVE giving prezzies as much as I love receiving them :)

How to make Halloween Bunting with guest blogger Miss Betty Bee!

Halloween is a great excuse to throw a party (especially if you have little ones) and as I simply love bunting I decided to make some spooky decorations for my daughters Halloween bash in a few weeks time. 

What you will need:

Half a metre of fabric preferably with a Halloween motif on.
Four metres of black bias binding or fabric tape
12 plastic skeletons of the type you find on key rings.
Scissors
Ruler
Black cotton
A Sewing machine (although these can easily be made by hand)
Cardboard for your pattern (I used a cereal box)
Pliers
Pencil
Tailors Chalk

Create a template for your bunting. Using your cardboard. I simply measured out a square and then folded it in half. Then draw a line from the top corners to the middle point where the paper has been folded to form a triangle. (Approx 19 x 21 cms)

Cut your fabric triangles out, using your pattern to trace out the shape with tailors chalk. You will need fronts and backs so this tutorial makes enough for 12

Sew your bunting triangles together (wrong side way round) leaving a gap at the top of approximately 3 cms so you can turn them out.

Once all your triangles are sewed turn them out using a pencil

Pin your bunting onto your fabric tape and leave a three cms gap between each triangle.Sew the bunting to the fabric tape.

Use your pliers to remove the keyriings from your skeletons (leave the metal loop at the top their skulls)

Sew your skeletons in-between your bunting.

Enjoy a spooky Tea party.
