Interview with Jara from Creative Abubot!!

I met a most talented lady online who makes the most mouth-watering realistic cupcakes that I have ever seen!
I had to get to know this artist better, and I knew that you would love this too, so I did a little interview with her!!

1. Hi Jara, I love your wonderful faux cupcakes, how did you get into making them?
I was surfing the internet for a cupcake recipe until I stumbled upon this site which sells faux cupcakes. They were so pretty and since I’m also a crafty person, I got intrigued by how it was made. So I searched for tutorials, but during those times there’s none I can find. These faux cupcake makers are very secretive. Hehe! I had to figure it out by myself. The hardware store became my “after-work-hangout-place”! I had to experiment with every materials that I could get my hands on until I got my formula right. (I posted some tutorial links on my blog which uses the same materials that I use)
2. What inspires your creativity?
Beautiful things around me inspire my creativity! :)
3. Tell us a little about yourself:)
I’m 30 years old. I’m from Manila. I’m a single mom to a 9yr old boy. I’m a digital artist and a compositor/visual-fx artist by profession. I love crafting. I enjoy creating things…and I enjoy working with my son on his school projects (we always beat the other kids’ projects! LOL!). I love pink and brown. I love watching movies. I cry easily and I always cry watching sappy movies. I like eating. I love food. I love cupcakes…and I hate it when I couldn’t get the frosting right, and melts right away! I spend a lot of time looking at cupcake photos from Flickr. I wish to have my own craft studio someday. My son is my life…and I still live with my parents! :p
4. What was the last book that you read?
THE CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND THE BIG, BAD BATTLE OF THE BIONIC BOOGER BOY…I read to my son! ;)But the last “grownup” book that I read was “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
5. Do you ever make real cupcakes or any other baked goods?
Yes I do make real cupcakes too…and cookies, chocolate cakes, cinnamon rolls.
6. What do your friends think about your creations?
My friends who are also into the “arts” were amazed by it. And they thought that it’s a great idea to earn extra income. My family on the other hand, at first, thought that I was crazy and that I just had nothing to do with my time! ;p They said I shouldn’t leave my creations lying around otherwise little kids might think it’s real and eat them. After awhile they grew fond of it, my mom even watches me when I make them (…which I hate! LOL!) …and she always gets some of them to give away to her friends!
7. Cat or dogs?
DOGS! I used to have a Japanese Spitz, but she got sick and died years ago. We still have 2 dogs (owned by my dad) but we can’t have animals inside the house anymore because my son have asthma.
8.If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be?
can it be different persons?Princess Diana – she’s beautiful inside and out and she’s a princess…every girl wanted to be a princess right?Oprah Winfrey – with her wealth, fame & fortune, she can definitely help change the world.Tim Burton – I love his art and I want to experience what it’s like to have such a brilliant mind!Martha Stewart – I want her empire! :p
9.How would you describe yourself in three words?
Crazy, Happy, Cool !
10.If you were a food, what would you be?
a chocolate cake, I guess…’cuz it never fails to make you feel good! Thanks again for this interview! :)Have a good day and God Bless!---Jara
