Tips on feeling good!
I suffer with bouts of low self esteem and self worth issues etc, I think many of us do, right?
So I thought I would share some of my personal coping tips for those days we feel in a bit of a funk, hope they help.
1. Vent to a friend. Make sure you vent to a friend that you know is good at a 'pep you up chat' or you could end up feeling worse than when you started, haha!
If you pick the right friend and not some emotional vampire type then chances are you will end the chat feeling a zillion times better about yourself and the situation. Be sure to thank your friend for this and please make sure you be available to them should they have a crappy day too!
2. Get some great music on!!! Often when I just put some lady gaga on, up I get, shake my booty around and feel so much better to face the day ahead!
If you are feeling really stressed out maybe you need some really soothing calm music on and just have a lie down for a half hour just to gather yourself.
3. Exercise!!! I have a the disability Fibromyalgia, so often all I can do is some gentle yoga or a walk but even these can really uplift your mood, espesh if you do these things in nature! On my well days I adore to ride my bike, so whatever you can do or want to do that you feel works for you.
Exercise releases endorphins, the happy hormones!
Exercise helps release built-up tension in the body. Let's not forget it also burns cals, bonus! Gives you an excuse to eat a candy bar that night!! :D
4. Do something fun!! Now this is very different for all of us on what we consider fun, maybe a trip to the library to get out some new great reads, or go to the park and jog or amusement park, whatever you find fun, go have some! :)
For me fun would be hanging out with a friend, going clothes shopping, trip to the beach etc.
5. Have a pamper day! Get a face mask on, do a mani pedi for yourself and shave your bits and if you can afford to go pay someone to do it, even better! Often I will just have a beauty pamper day to get myself looking tip top and that always lifts my mood a ton!
6. Do something nice for someone else! This could be just calling a few friends to see how they are or making something for a friend, volunteering somewhere, giving money, whatever you want to do, it is a great way to feel better to help someone else!
7. Meditate or use a relaxation programme on your ipod etc. I have a few I listen to and they really help get you back in the zone of feeling calm and more optimistic.
8. Write a list of all the things you are grateful for. It will show you just how much you do have in your life and this all helps you focus on the positive.
9. Take a really long bath or a lovely long shower and exfoliate all over, I always feel a sense of renew after and that helps raise the spirits.
10. Read, getting deep in another world of imagination really can take you far far away from how you are feeling about either yourself or a certain situation and can be a great escape.
11. Sit there and think of these 5 things, picture them in your mind, a baby laughing, a cute little puppy, a teeny tiny kitten mewing, your favourite food, the one you love giving you a huge hug!
12. Make a list of your good qualities, also you can add the things that you do well, if you are having a low day this can be tough at first but try, we all have our own special qualities and things that we are good at.
13. Examine your life a bit and the people that you have around you, do they help and love you or belittle you and make you feel drained? Maybe a bit of friend weeding is simply in order?? Emotional vampires can really suck the life out of the more sensitive creatures, so get rid of them, they are in no way good for you, you deserve better!
14. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, often a lack of sleep can make us feel teary or emotional, so maybe a nap will make you feel a ton better, or simply go to bed early that night, climb in bed after a delicious shower with a good book!
15. Get some sun! Sun can really lift the spirits, so get out there and get some! ;D
16. Get your hair did! A new do can really lift a flagging self esteem, if that isn't an option right now, how about just applying a hair treatment and them styling your hair in a cute way yourself, this never fails to perk me up :)
17. A new outfit. Just having a new outfit that you adore and looks fab on you can really make a gal feel awesome! My friend recently sent me the prettiest dress ever and It put me on cloud 9!
18. Animals!!! If like me, you are a huge animal lover and whatever fur baby you have, go play with them and cuddle them, they are the best at cheering you up.
If I play with my dogs for a while I am giggling and goofing around and forgeting my poopy feelings!
If you are a Mummy, then your kids would be the best for this job!
19. Sometimes we get low because we feel like we are not living our dreams, things aren't working out the way we wanted etc, get yourself back on track and grab a pad and pen and write down what you want in life and the steps needed to achieve it, just this step in the right way will really help. Me and my hubby have a yearly plan and a five year plan, helps us keep focused on what we need to do to achieve what we want.
20. Learn something new! This could be something that you have always wanted to do or a fun night class to learn another language, anything at all. Learning something new helps your self esteem grow and gives you something else to focus on.
21. Clean the hell out of the house! Maybe this is a rarity, I have no idea but if I blitz the house and make it spik and span, with hubby's help, then I feel so much better!
22. De-clutter. I find clutter very stressful and like to do it often, around 4 times a year to keep on top of it. I use 3 boxes, one is for the trash, the next is for the charity shop and the last is for either ebay or friends.
23. Look through some of your photo albums! Loads of great memories to focus on there I am sure.
I hope these help, I just wanted to share some things I find helpful for myself.
Please remember that these crappy days come and go and that tomorrow may be very different, especially if you are proactive today! Go and enjoy your life, this isn't a dress rehearsal, get out and have fun!
Please do let me know some good ones that you have too!

Around a certian time of month I always have a few days where I feel so low, and never really realise why till afterwards or Toomaj points it out to me.
I can't wait to have a bath in our new house so I can have a bath with some lush in it.
I also find that if I keep the flat tidier then that time of the month is a lot smoother... but I'm yet to do it in advance, hehe normally I also have a super tidy day after (I've decided it's part of my cycle, hehe).
I think I might copy this to my desk top to remind me of some things to remember to do when I am a bit meh!
I was having another crappy day today and this was just what I needed to read. So many great tips! I will try them out and hopefully those days will not be that bad anymore.
Emily, I know what you mean about the time of the month changing how you feel, omg!! :D I am the same. I am quite anal about the house all month though, haha. I cannot relax in mess and have to declutter the house often.
I hope these tips help you, they work wonders for me :)
Miss oneeyes, Hey you!!
